2008 President - Paula SchmelzerRecently, our Board met to discuss a Strategic Plan for our Association. We invited a few past presidents and other members to add their input on our plan. This has helped us determine where our organization is going over the next 3-5 years and how we are going to get there.

Here is summary of the Strategic Plan thus far:

Mission Statement:

1. Our purpose is to serve our members

2. By providing education, programs and benefits

3. To assist Members to successfully conduct their business professionally and cooperatively now and in the future

4. To protect private property rights through effective participation in public policy

5. To help protect affordability and availability of housing choices by ensuring equal housing opportunities

Our core services:

1. Information, Technology and Communication

2. Education and Professional Development

3. Professional Standards Ethics, Arbitration and Mediation

4. Public Policy- Legislative Advocacy

5. Operations, Administration and Benefits

6. Relationships, Alliances and Partnerships

We are continuing to work on this plan. If you have any ideas or input, please feel free to contact me at schmelzerp@firstweber.com or John Deininger at johnd@wisre.com.

Are you involved in our association? How well do you know your fellow REALTORS® or Affiliate members. There are many opportunities for our members to get together, get involved and network and get to know each other better.

Here is a list of upcoming events to mark on your calendar:

1. RASCW 2008 Cindy Strange Memorial Golf Outing Wednesday, June 4th. This is a tremendous opportunity to play at Trapper's Turn in Wisconsin Dells.

2. Networking Nites These are held every few months. I would love to see more of you there.

3. Membership Meeting June 26, 2008. We will be hosting a membership meeting to vote on bylaw changes and the merger of the Southwest Board into our Association. We will also have a safety seminar at this function.

4. The Annual Mallards Game The date for this fun event is also yet to come. Why not bring your friends out to a cookout, and watch our local Mallards baseball team (aka the Ducks) and raise money for one of our local housing partners. Last year we raised money for Movin' Out.

5. The Home Run - October 18, 2008. A fundraiser for the Housing Foundation. Come walk the Irv Stein Memorial Walk or run the 5k with me. If you can't do either, they can always use volunteers.

6. Habitat Work Days Have you helped build a home for someone? It is quite rewarding. Our work day is the third Wednesday of each month. If I can shingle a roof, anyone can do it. We also have jobs on ground level!

As you can see there are many opportunities to get involved and network with fellow members. And the list continues throughout the year. Please be sure to check the website www.rascw.org or in this newsletter for upcomingevents.

I would like to congratulate our President-elect Ted Krez. He will do a great job for our Association in 2009.

As always, feel free to contact me at anytime. See you soon at our events.

Sincerely
Paula Schmelzer
