There has been much criticism in the way that many national mortgage servicers have responded to short sale requests. Stories of slow responses and unwilling attitudes have frustrated many buyers, sellers and REALTORS®. Some recent legislation has been aimed at trying to improve the situation, but few have seen any positive results. Many of our members have shared their experiences with our elected representatives, and have received responses back appreciating their comments and experiences. Letting our elected representatives know about our issues and requesting their assistance is the only way that the system will change. Our national lobbyists are certainly doing what they can, but hearing "stories from the street", is what will ultimately invoke the necessary motivation to deal with our issues. We encourage everyone to take a moment to share their experiences with our Congressional leaders and let them know about the issues that affect our industry. Our customers and clients deserve better service, and we can be the voice of those homeowners that Washington needs to hear from.
