Looks like the snow is finally melting and we're on track for spring to arrive. Wouldn't it be great if the negative press on the housing industry started to melt away just like the snow? Sales may be down from last year but our home values are remaining strong compared to 2006 when many analysts thought housing had hit its peak. Looking at the 2008 South Central Wisconsin MLS year end numbers, I am reminded about how great of an investment real estate is here in our region of the country. If all of our 401Ks and IRAs could have faired as well as the value of property here in our area we would all be ecstatic. Now more than ever it is important to keep your customer base informed on what is really going on here in our market. So many great opportunities exist for our clients and for us to further develop our businesses.
Spring also ushers in our local election season. It is important that we stay involved in the elections to help elect those people into office that we feel will best help our industry. The Governmental Affairs committee, Phil Salkin and your Board of Directors have been working very hard at staying on top of this year's races. You owe it to yourself to become educated on the issues, and get to the polls. Spring races usually garner a small turnout of the electorate, and your vote may be the one that matters.
