How long have you been working in the real estate industry?
24 years

How did you get into real estate?
After many years in retail management, I felt I wanted to run my own business and had always enjoyed sales, so I chose real estate as my next career choice. Two years ago, I started managing a couple of offices, and now I manage six offices.

What was one of your greatest challenges starting out?
Getting my own clients. I was not from here and did not know many people, so I became active in as many community-driven activities as possible so I could get to know more people and stay in front of them.

What support or advice did you find most helpful when starting out in the industry?
Learn to let go of the outcome. Bob Weber would remind all of us often that we cannot control the buyer’s or seller’s choices but we can help educate them to make the best choices.

What do you enjoy most about working in real estate?
As an agent I loved the people and helping them get to their next destination. As a manager, I love the fact that I can help my agents problem solve and look stronger to their clients. Helping agents become as successful as they want to be is incredibly rewarding. I am thankful for the support I have had from all my fellow agents, past managers and leaders within First Weber who have helped me become successful, and I hope to do the same for others.

What is your proudest achievement or favorite memory in real estate?
Seeing a new agent get to their first closing!

What advice would you give to someone new to the industry, or someone considering real estate?
Set goals and show up every day consistently with a list of action items to accomplish to help you get to that goal. It takes time, but the harder you work and the sooner you learn to act, walk and talk like a Realtor® you will then become one. It is one of the hardest careers to get started in, so if you are not practicing every day like you are successful then you will not make it.

How has being a member of RASCW benefited you?
Knowing what is going on in our industry allows us to have intelligent conversations with buyers and sellers, so being involved in RASCW committees and in a leadership role is helpful. I am on the SCWMLS Committee as well as the RASCW Orientation and Professional Standards Committees.

If you could have lunch with anyone in the world, alive or not, who would it be?
My deceased father.

Outside of work, what makes you happy?
I enjoy a long walk, hike, bike ride or paddle on a river in a canoe or kayak.
