Minority Scholarship – Tierra Johnson

How long have you been in real estate?
2 years

What made you want to pursue real estate?
I wanted to build a business that can be left to my kids. I wanted to work for myself and have all my hard work put towards my business.

What was one of your greatest challenges as a new agent?
My greatest challenge was watching others win while I struggled. Now that I am a solo agent my biggest challenge is building my clientele.

What do you feel were some of your greatest early accomplishments?
One of my greatest accomplishments early on was my determination and my drive – I sold 22 homes my first year while on the team.

What motivated you to apply for the RASCW Minority Scholarship?
The financial help it provided for me. As a single mother and no outside job, it definitely helped me stay afloat.

What did receiving the RASCW Minority Scholarship mean to you?
It let me know that there are people out there that would like to see me win and wanted to give a helping hand so I could do so.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a new REALTOR®?
Pick your mentor wisely. Hold your office accountable for the things that they said they would do and teach you. Go into the office. Network with other Realtors®, lenders, inspectors, and anyone in this industry.

What has been most rewarding about being a REALTOR®?
Helping families buy their dream home. The joy in my heart I feel when I win a listing or get an accepted offer. Being able to have more time with my kids. Meeting new people. Knowing that everything I am doing is for the growth of my business.  I could go on and on.
